"BE THE HANDS AND FEET OF JESUS....GO AND DO"

“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” Romans 10:14

Purpose: Seeing people as Christ sees them; as recipients of His love and redemption. To develop relationships by initiating conversations to learn about those we are serving and to trust in the Holy Spirit to guide us as we work to bring the message to them.

Our church is missions oriented. Jesus said in Luke 24:47-48 (NLT), "With my authority, take this message of repentance to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: 'There is forgiveness of sins for all who turn to me.' You are witnesses to all these things." We take this command seriously.

Every month, we send offerings to various missionaries. We are currently in the process of deliberating who we will be sending monthly offerings to. At our July Elders meeting, we will be deciding upon which groups our church will donate to through the end of the year.

Besides our monthly love offerings to our missionaries, we have ongoing projects that not only help to spread the message, but also help those in need. For the Thanksgiving holiday, we serve Thanksgiving dinner to the residents at the Housing Authority. Each Christmas is a different activity. We have, in the past, worked with the Highland Lakes Crisis Center and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), as well as aided individual families who had fallen on hard times at the holiday season.

This year, we will organize our fourth Lights Spectacular 5k that will be run during the annual Johnson City holiday festival Lights Spectacular. The net proceeds will supplement our ministries here at First Christian Church.

We are always looking for ways to help in the community. If you would like to join us, we would love to have you!
